I FINISHED!!!!

I finished New Moon, and all I can comment is, "WOWWIE ZOWWIE!" I liked it better than Twilight! You all had commented that it was a snoozer from Chapter 3 to Chapter 18, which I do not necessarily agree with. I read the last 350 pages on my car ride, and I could NOT put it down.

Guess who is my favorite (WHAT A BABE, and he's so much better for Bella)??

I am going to post some New Moon extra credit questions below! You know what that means - Comments equal points to help with your quarterly grade! Please answer two of the questions below using specific examples from New Moon. Once you submit your extra credit response (you have until January 1, 2009), your name will go on a list, and I will ask you one more question in class (just to make sure you did read and did not get help with these questions from someone who actually did read). This will be worth a total of 25 extra credit points, but you must correctly answer the two questions here AND, most importantly, the question I ask in class. Trust me, if you read, you will be able to answer ANY question I ask. HAVE FUN WITH THIS! I am very much enjoying this whole series! I start Eclipse today (thanks, Meryl)!

  1. Why do you think the book is titled New Moon? Remember that a “new moon” is the lunar phase when we cannot see the moon
  2. What do you think about Edward leaving? Did it help Bella?
  3. What do you think about what Bella did to Jacob? Was it selfish of her to continue the friendship when she knew their feelings for one another were not the same?
  4. Which guy should Bella be with? What are the pros and cons of being with each of them?
Post your comments below. Remember, add your first name and period number to the end of your comment. SMILE OODLES! MiSs YoU~

-- I do not think that what Bella did to Jacob was selfish. Jacob did know that Bella did not feel the same for him, so it doesn't matter. On the other hand, I think it's good that she continued the friendship with him. He did help her get alot better from her depression from Edward's dissaperance. He sort of became Bella's second Edward except for falling in love with him. It was not selfish because she didn't lead Jacob on, he was the one who let her lead him on in my opinion. So as you can see throughout the book, Jacob was a big help for Bella, and her actions were not selfish.

4.

--Alot of people have taken Jacob's side throughout the series. But I honestly beleive that Edward is still Bella's perfect man. She did deeply fall in love with him. Yes Jacob and Bella's friendship in New Moon grew and could've become a relationship but it would have not been the same. The connection and chemistry that Edward and Bella had is extremely powerful. Jacob and Bella do get along very well, but just as friends. They don't have the chemistry to become a couple. I mean, Edward overcame his wanting to eat Bella to be with her. I don't really think Jacob would have had the will power to do that. In my opinion, Edward shows more love towards Bella than what Jacob shows. His actions mean alot more than Jacob's. That is why I disagree with everyone and beleive that Edward is Bella's perfect match, not Jacob.

Question 2
NO. The girl was so crazy, desolated, and just so freaking inanimate during this book. She would put herself in the most dangerous situations juts to hear his voice. She could have died and then the books would have been over which would mean no more Edward for anybody!!!!! Also he would have killed himself which is even worst than Bella dying!!! It also put her between a very dramatic and uncomfortable dispute between the werewolves and the vampires.

Question 3
It was amazing!!!!!!!!
He deserved it. He is so immature, kind of unintelligent, inconsiderate, and the list goes on and on. He ruins everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, it was fair and no it was not selfish for her to continue the friendship. Bella made it very clear that their relationship could never elevate into anything besides the playful friendship they shared. Also if Bella continues to be friends with Jacob, then he will keep hurting and being miserable and seeing Jacob like that makes me very blissful!!! =) Bella can not control how everyone else feels. Besides its not illegal to deceive a wolf’s heart

P.S
Mrs. I skipped some vocabulary question on the midterm cause I wanted to finish as much as possible so I just answered the ones I didn’t need the notes for so that way I would cover most of the questions
Will the ones that I skipped be marked wrong?
Please say they won’t be! =(
Oh right, are we going to get graded on the winter reading packet you gave us?

1. Why do you think the book is titled New Moon? Remember that a “new moon” is the lunar phase when we cannot see the moon
The book is titled New Moon because during a new moon we cannot see the moon but it is always there and it is the same thing in the book. Edward symbolizes the moon and when he left it was like a new moon, she had him in her heart mind spirit and soul but he wasn’t there physically. During this lunar phase the moon is still there but we can’t see it. Edward wasn’t there for the body of the book but he was still in her heart.
2. What do you think about Edward leaving? Did it help Bella?
How do I express by feelings in a PG 13 way about this topic. Well, he was a total and complete @$#$%!*#.He had no right to give her the best year of her life and them walk always like that. I understand he thought that it would be for the best to leave and give her a human life but it was already to late he had already dazzled her and she couldn’t live without him. The way he said goodbye was just plan cold and inconsiderate. Bella didn’t care about her social life or that she almost got killed during the spring all she wanted was to be next to her Romeo and she would even give up her life for him. By Edward leaving he left her heart broken , inanimate, lonely and without a map to guide her through the rest of her life. All Edward did was complicate there love even more because he allowed Jacob to fall in love with Bella.

3. What do you think about what Bella did to Jacob? Was it selfish for her to continue the friendship when she knew their feelings for one another were not the same?
--I think that what Bella did to Jacob was not selfish. From the beginning she let him know that her love belonged to Edward. Jacob let himself to the conclusion that Bella liked him. I'm not sure if to think that her decision to continue being friends with Jacob was correct. First, I think that Jacob sucks, and I don't like him. After Edward left he began to ruin everything.Yes, he helped Bella, but so what??? That means nothing after he almost destroyed Edward and Bella's love. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he helped Bellla throught the tough times.

4. Which guy should Bella be with? What are the pros and cons of being with each of them?
--Everyone has taken Jacob's side throughout the series because they feel sorry for him. They say 'poor Jacob,' because he fell in love with Bella, and she broke his heart. But nobody thinks about how much Edward has suffered. He began his suffering in Twilight when he wanted to kill Bella, then continued it when he fell in love with her, but had to stay away from her. Then in New Moon, he has to make himself leave, for Bella's sake. Not only that but then he has to endure the fact that Bella is also in love with Jacob. Edward's cold, dead hearts was brocken too. But since he loves Bella more than Jacob does, he doesn't use that fact to win her love. Jacob on the other hand, does use that to his advantage. He didn't care that Bella was suffering because of him. I believe that Jacob is selfish. Though Jacob and Bella's friendship grew, and could have turned into something else, I think it wouldn't have lasted long. I honestly think that Jacob was not truly in love with Bella. I think he thought he was. But then again, it's easy to confuse love with lust. The BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT Edward Cullen doe slove Bella, and she loves him. They have very powerful chemistry ando both would give their lives for one another. Edward loves Bella a hundred times more that Jacob and his actions also mean more. Not to mention that they are for Bella's benefit and not for his own personal benefit. This is why I believe that Edward is Bella's perfect match. He is absolutely perfect.

2.
Edward leaving Bella was not the best idea. Instead of doing her good, and keeping her safe and sound like Edward thought it would, it brought her insanity and pain. She was left in a zombie trance and was completely unaware of her sorroundings for a very long time, and when she finally snaped out of it, she was drawn to an unexplainable voice inside of her head, that belonged to Edward, and came t0o her when ever she was in danger. This caused her to chase danger and put herself in peril.

4.
In my opinion, Jacon is beter for Bella. As opposed to Edward, who is extremely overprotective of her and does not let her experience life in fear that she might be hurt, Jacob is very supportive. He protects her but lets her live at the same time. He supports her crazy ideas as long as he is there with her to save her. Edward is not like this, that is why I think Jacob is much better for Bella, and not just for her, for any other girl. He would be a better boyfriend.

1. Why do you think the book is titled New Moon?
In this heart plunging novel, all of the characters, especially the clumsy Bella, undergo various drastic changes. The poignant commencement is in Chapter 3, plainly titled “The End”, when to every reader’s surprise, our beloved yet anomalous couple pull the blood red curtains down, and exit the stage. At this point, Bella wanders her house, a mere presence to everyone, sobbing to herself like a banshee in the middle of a massacre. For instance, while Bella is still terribly shocked from the “clean break”, she narrates, “ ‘It’ll be as if I’d never existed’, he promised me…The waves of the pain that had only lapped at me before now reared high up and washed over my head, pulling me under. I did not resurface.” This certain citation clearly elucidates why this book is titled “New Moon” as well as Bella’s feelings towards the situation. Like when the brilliant moon is draped with nothing but darkness, Bella’s love, life, and meaning vanished without a trace with the alluring, yet toxic Edward.

4. Which guy should Bella be with? What are the pros and cons of being with them?
In this side of the ring, we have the sensuous, seductive strigoi (means vampire in Romania) Edward, and in the other corner stands the bold, brusque werewolf, Jacob. And of course, who can forget the hesitant Bella in the middle of this whole tug of war, with a big red question mark stamped on her forehead. This is when we ask ourselves, who does Bella really need; moreover, who does she feverishly yearn for? Now, alike everyone else in this world, human or nonhuman, everyone has defects, whether it be a person (more like a certain vampire known as Edward) who is excessively overprotective, from which I am still waiting for test results to see if he suffers from OCDFB (obsession compulsive disorder for Bella). Or if you have quite a bad temper like Jacob (I recommend anger management). Despite these imperfections, in the bad, there is always something good, as in the case of Edward honestly expressing his feelings for Bella, and who can forget his strikingly good looks. Along with Jacob who is outgoing, very easy guy to get along with, and very cute. Finally, I have come to the conclusion, after showing their strengths and weaknesses, that Edward has been, is, and always will be the ideal blood drinking man for Bella. For example, in Chapter 23, “The Truth” when obviously Edward confesses everything to Bella and he can finally say “Lucy, I’m home!” He desperately explains, “I could see it in your eyes, that you honestly believed that I didn’t want you anymore. The most absurd, ridiculous, concept- as if there were any way that I could exist without needing you!” Clearly, there is no better way that Edward could have claimed his love for Bella. The love which they share simply cannot be replaced with any other.

What do you think about Edward leaving? Did it help Bella?
At the beginning of the story I thought that Edward leaving was terrible... I thought he was rude, ignorant, selfish, etc. But, as the story continued i realized that he did it for her. He just wanted her to be safe and better and he thought that if he left all that would happen... but apparently he was very wrong. I guess i kinda of did help her but in a very little way. It helped her grow a litttle.... but it didnt help her at all because she was very depressed and anti-social.

What do you think about what Bella did to Jacob? Was it selfish of her to continue the friendship when she knew their feelings for one another were not the same?
What Bell did to Jacob was very selfish... she used him for her own good to fill the hole that Edward had left on her. And i thought by her doing that lead on Jacob to think that she really liked him back. Which she did but she didn't want to admit it. Yes it was very selfish because she knew what she was doing and she kept on doing it for her own selfish needs.

Ps: Edward will always and forever be Bella's man... Jacob will never end up with Bella :D Love you Mrs. R

Why do you think the book is titled New Moon? Remember that a “new moon” is the lunar phase when we cannot see the moon.

- I think its called New Moon because a New Moon is a moon that can't be seen but is always their. If you read the book, you could see that Edward was always their, in the shadows. He was invisible to the naked eye, but you could hear his voice. Like in page 184, when Bella thought she heard his voice in some type of hallucination. But we all knoww that it sounded all to perfectly. In the page I suggested he said,"this is reckless and childish and idiotic Bella." When she thinks of his voice doesn't sounds the same. Not as velvety smooth as when he sppeks in real life. This is the reason why I thinks the second book of twilight is called New Moon.

3) What do you think about what Bella did to Jacob? Was it selfish of her to to continue the friendship when she knew their feelings for one another were not the same?

- I don't think what Bella did was selfish at all. Bella constantly reminded him that all she wanted to be was friends. A that time she really needed a friend. Its not selfish to want someone close to you by your side while your going through a rough time. He was like a positive glow of sunshine that helped Bella get out of her rut.In page 213, she specificaly stated that she wasn't going to change her feelings for him, but he just stated that even though that was true he would keep persistent. So it's not like she was leading him on or anything. Even though their feelings were not the same for one another, they made each other happy, just hanging out with one another. Bella did nothing to Jacob that she wouldn't have done to someone else that made her feel joyous with her life ( even in the shortest of moments)

What do you think about Edward leaving? Did it help Bella? I think Edward leaving Bella was horrible. The way Edward left her was abit harsh because after he left her by useing his supernatural speed, Bella was despraite enough to follow him towards the woods. He left Bella alone and devistated in the woods, also lost. But in a way Edward is helping her by leaving because as edward being a vampire he attracts other nearby vampires that may put Bellas life in jeopardy. Also Edward may harm her as well if he does not have a demanded amount of blood in periods of time.
Which guy should Bella be with? What are the pros and cons of being with each of them? I believe Bella should be with Edward. I believe so because unlike Jacob, Edward has self control with his emotions that won't put Bella in any danger. Also, even though Jacob is favored by charlie more than Edward, Bella prefores to be with Edward. Forthermore I believe that Edward should be with her is because I consider Jacob to yough for Bella and Edward old enough for her because Bellas 18, Jacobs 15, and Edwards about 100.

1.Why do you think the book is titled New Moon? Remember that a “new moon” is the lunar phase when we cannot see the moon

Stephenie Meyer's second best selling novel is entitled New Moon because it is the most difficult time in Bella's life. In this novel, Edward symbolizes the moon because he is not there for Bella. Also like the moon, Edward mostly came out at night. He erased himself completely from her life but did not stop her from thinking about him. This is like a new moon because during the phase that we cannot see the moon, it is always there constantly watching us.

3.What do you think about what Bella did to Jacob? Was it selfish of her to continue the friendship when she knew their feelings for one another were not the same?

No, I admit that Bella did not act very selfishly towards Jacob. Although in my opinion, it was wrong for her to have continued her relationship with him. It was stupid of her to have continued being friends with Jacob when she knew their feelings for one another were not the same. I also think by her continuing this relationship it will mislead Jacob. Over time this will just encourage Jacob and then Bella would have to be in a situation where she will have to choose between her love for Edward or her desire for Jacob.
